Cooking Classes at Nestle Inn
Cooking classes at Nestle Inn, an Indianapolis Bed and Breakfast, are always informal, fun and hands on. Each class will provide you with the skill to prepare what you learn at home. Our Chef instructors are some of Indy's most talented chefs from The Chef's Academy,local restaurants and from around town. Each class is focused on learning something new, updating your skills and providing a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Private and team building classes are available as well as our current class schedule of classes on Saturday afternoons from 3:30 to 5:30pm. This fall/winter we will offer a few classes on Friday nights from 6:30 to 8:30pm. Wine and beer pairing classes are not traditional cooking classes as they are tastings and educational about wine, beer and what food to pair them with.
Chef Matthew Mejia
Chef Mejia was raised on the north side of Indianapolis, and received his Associate Degree in Culinary Arts from Joliet Jr. College in 1990, and an Associate Degree in Pastry Arts from The Chef’s Academy in 2009. He has 30 years of culinary experience, and has worked in many cities; Chicago, Madrid, Phoenix, Sydney, and Indianapolis. My expertise is in Mediterranean food, predominantly Spanish, as well as Southwestern, Cajun, and Australian cuisines.
In 2003 he and his brother developed a wine importing business which was in operation for about 3 years. Wine is another passion of his, and chef Mejia is currently studying for the exam to become a “Certified Sommelier”.
After his restaurant experience, he became an instructor at The Chef’s Academy. Currently Chef Mejia is working on his Bachelor’s degree in the Hotel and Restaurant Management program at Harrison College.
Chef Lauren Day
Chef Lauren Day grew up in Crawfordsville Indiana and moved to Indianapolis after she graduated high school to study pastry arts at The Chef's Academy. She graduated with high honors from the Chef's Academy and loves sharing her passion for pastries with anyone willing to learn. Chef Lauren has been doing custom cakes since she was 12 years old and has been running a small dessert business for over 8 years. She also worked at one of Indianapolis's most famous family owned bakery, Taylor's Bakery. Chef Lauren currently works for The Chef's Academy as a high school relations specialist traveling to local Indiana schools, doing cooking demos, and helping high school students learn more about their interest in pursuing a career in the culinary industry.
From the moment you meet Renaud you can see his passion for French food. Passion, not only for the taste of French food, but also for the pleasure of cooking French food. His home town is Paris, France where he studied and worked in some of the most prestigious establishments inlcuding The 4 Seasons in Paris. Renaud holds a diploma in cooking and has also taught cooking classes for two years at the French Alliance of Indianapolis. His approach to the art of cooking French food is to use the best ingredients in a simple manner with a bit of a 'kick' as Renaud calls it. He might add some Indian spice or an asian flare to a traditional French dish. Either traditional or with a flare, his classes always help you understand and appreciate the art of cooking French food.
Classes are held on Saturdays from 3:30pm to 5:30pm (unless otherwise posted) in the Nestle Inn kitchen. Classes are open to all and no previous cooking experience is necesssary. Classes on Friday nights are held from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

Cost: $65 per person includes all supplies and a $20 gift card to be used towards a future one night stay at Nestle Inn. Or, purchase 4 classes for $240 (you choose your 4 classes. Includes one Nestle Inn gift card). Payment for your class or classes will need to be made at the time of signing up for a class in order to secure a reservation.
Be sure to check availability at Nestle Inn for an overnight stay on your class day. Mass Avenue is waiting for you once you finish in the kitchen! Then walk home to Nestle Inn, sleep late and experience our wonderful breakfast in our dining room. Single or Dougle occupancy: Receive $20 off your room rate with the purchase of a cooking class.
Gift certificates for cooking classes are also available and can be purchased on our Gift Certificate tab above or you can call us at the Inn and we will take care of all charges for you and send out or scan the gift certificate to your chosen address. The person receiving the gift certificate can then choose the topic of their choice.
Please remember that redemption of a gift certificate can only be honored on the date of reservation for a cooking class. Sorry, but we are not able to change reservation dates on gift certificates. Redemption of gift certificates are based upon availability at the time of booking and are considered the same as cash.

Class size is limited and classes do tend to fill up quickly. If you are unable to attend your class, you may pass it on to a family member, co worker or friend. Sorry, we are unable to refund the class fee or transfer your attendance to another class. If you received a gift certificate for classes or if you received a particular class as a gift, the same policy above applies as well.
